Business litigator Hunter Eley defends consumer class action threats and individual claims in California and across the United States. His frontline strategies for global companies address the expense, business and legal challenges of these consumer claims. Hunter’s clients include major banks and prominent companies in financial services, technology and entertainment.

For the past decade, Hunter has served as lead and national counsel in class action defenses. He has amassed a track record of prevailing on issues of first impression and achieving early dismissal of consumer claims, including those under California’s Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA). His sophisticated solutions reflect the business imperatives of his clients as well as the strength of his professional relationships and network.

Hunter’s defense of class actions spans multiple jurisdictions, including Illinois, Texas and other plaintiff-friendly jurisdictions. His work in California’s state and federal courts includes the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Hunter also resolves disputes in arbitration and other settlement forums.

Beginning his practice at Gibson, Dunn& Crutcher LLP, Hunter now leverages the best of his Big Law litigation skills when defending corporate leaders, from the earliest stages of dispute  through trial as well as providing pre litigation counsel.

General counsel rely on Hunter as an extension of their inhouse teams–they count on his  synthesis of institutional knowledge and development of cost-efficient alternatives to fall-in-line payout settlements.

Additionally, Hunter defends individual lawsuits and claims. He handles large litigation portfolios for global companies in California and across the United States. His experience includes the full array of CLRA claims, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and other statues. He also has litigated disputes in the entertainment industry and trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation.

As managing partner and co-founder of Doll Amir Eley LLP, Hunter established the firm to provide more nimble, efficient and creative legal representation to businesses. He earned his J.D. from William and Mary College of Law and then served as law clerk to the Honorable James C. Turk in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia. Hunter credits his clerkship for shaping his practice by introducing him to a humanistic, relationship-driven approach to the law.

Hunter receives recognition from the Daily Journal, Lawdragon, Los Angeles Business Journal and  Super Lawyers. As an author and speaker, Hunter has shared techniques to defeat consumer class actions and defend financial litigation to professionals nationwide.
