BREACH OF CONTRACT
CASE/NUMBER: Pradeep Singh v. Sierra Primary Care Association, Sierra Medical Group Holding Company, High Desert Medical Corporation/MC02171.
COURT/DATE: Los Angeles Superior Lancaster / February 7, 2012.
JUDGE: Hon. Brian C. Yep.
Plaintiff – Steve G. Fox (Law Offices of Steve G. Fox, Lancaster).
Defendant – Michael M. Amir, Amy I. Borlund (Doll Amir & Eley LLP, Los Angeles).
FACTS: Plaintiff Pradeep Singh, a physician, alleged that defendants agreed to make him a 1/3 owner in Sierra Medical Group. Plaintiff further alleged that, in reliance on defendants’ promises, he missed out on other job and investment opportunities. He sued for breach of contract and fraud. Defendants argued that they never made such promises to plaintiff and, in any event, the statute of limitations had long run on all of plaintiff’s claims.
DAMAGES: Plaintiff claimed damages in excess of $30 million.
SETTLEMENT DISCUSSIONS: Plaintiff demanded $30 million. Defendant offered no money.
RESULT: The defendant filed a motion for summary judgment. The court granted defendant’s motion, finding all of plaintiff’s claims time-barred.
