Krista S. deBoer is a litigator and counselor with experience representing local, national, and multi-national clients in complex actions in state and federal court.  Her practice focuses on healthcare law, servicing an array of clients, including medical groups, independent practice associations, healthcare systems, hospitals and physicians.

Ms. deBoer also specializes in environmental law, representing clients in all phases of environmental and business litigation, administrative proceedings, enforcement defense, regulatory compliance, and corporate transactional matters.  She has worked with clients from a variety of public and private sectors including aerospace and defense, food and beverage, healthcare, residential development, energy, transportation, retail, port districts and irrigation districts on matters involving the spectrum of environmental media.  She has significant experience in CERCLA allocation and cost recovery, NRD assessment, contaminated site cleanup, hazardous materials and hazardous waste compliance, CEQA, Endangered Species Act litigation, and environmental torts.

In addition to advocating for clients, Ms. deBoer has an ADR practice.  She is a mediator specializing in environmental, education, and business disputes.  She co-founded and is a Principal of the Cambridge Negotiation Institute, and has taught negotiation, advanced negotiation, and difficult conversations seminars to corporate, public, and nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and abroad.  Ms. deBoer also teaches negotiation to law students as an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown Law School.  

Ms. deBoer graduated from the University of Washington magna cum laude with an Honors B.A. in Speech Communication and English, and she earned an M.A. in Education from Antioch University, Seattle.  Ms. deBoer earned her J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School, where her coursework centered on negotiation, dispute resolution, and environmental law and policy.  While in law school, she was on the teaching teams for the Harvard Law School Negotiation Workshop and Harvard Negotiation Institute executive education program, and she did consulting work through the Harvard Negotiation and Mediation Clinical Program.  She served as the president and founding member of the Harvard Food Law Society, was an editor of the Harvard Environmental Law Review, and was a Lecturer on Law at Boston College.  Before law school, Ms. deBoer spent a decade as a public educator, and she is still a credentialed teacher and administrator.

Prior to joining Doll Amir & Eley LLP, Ms. deBoer practiced at a boutique environmental law firm serving clients in California, Washington and Oregon, and was a litigation associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher where she was a member of Gibson’s General Litigation and Mass Tort & Environmental practice groups.  Ms. deBoer is a member of the State Bars of California, Washington and Oregon, and is admitted to practice before the Central and Southern District Courts of California.
